Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso said the men were arrested after an attempt to rob an electronics warehouse in Sebenza on May 22.

According to the business owner, he received a call from the security company about a signal they were getting from his business. The security company then notified the police.

“When the security company and the police arrived at the premises, the suspects ran and managed to get away but nothing was stolen,” said Tsotsotso.

Tsotsotso said there were two security guards and a guard dog was on duty at the time of the incident.

“Initially the security guards said five men with guns walked in and locked the dog in one of the rooms. However, when the police interviewed them, one of them changed their story and confessed this was planned,” she said.

The two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
