Johannesburg SAPS East Cluster arrested 98 suspects between May 25 and 27.
The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from shoplifting and rape to theft.
The cluster is made up of seven police stations, namely Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville.
The arrests included:
• Ten for assault common.
• Six for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
• Three for possession of stolen properties.
• Six for shoplifting.
• Two for theft.
• Two for house break-in and theft.
• One for possession of drugs.
• Two for rape.
“The suspects have appeared in different courts. Some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Capt Richard Munyayi.
