
The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court sentenced Ncengizwe Mbatha (26) to eight years imprisonment for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on May 22.
Mbatha was arrested at the corner of Jules and 32nd streets in Malvern last year.
Cleveland SAPS spokesperson Captain Johan Jordaan said police received a tip-off about three suspicious-looking men in the area.

“Police proceeded to the given address. Upon arrival, they spotted the three men and requested to search them.
“Upon searching them, they found a Norinco 9mm pistol and ammunition in Mbatha’s possession. He was arrested and taken to the Cleveland Police Station where he was detained,” said Jordaan.
