
Cleveland Community Policing Forum (CCPF) held a public meeting at Cleveland SAPS to address issues of crime and safety in Ward 118 on September 4.
During the meeting, Cleveland SAPS station commander Colonel Lobisi Motoung expressed concerns about the number of police officers killed in the line of duty.
He referred to Constable Mashudu Neudane who was shot and killed after intervening in a robbery on Jules Street in Malvern on August 24.

Neudane’s death was the second police killing to shock Joburg East communities in recent months.
Johannesburg East SAPS Cluster Constable Thandanani Zwelakhi Shange (25) was shot and killed during a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Hillbrow on June 21.
Motaung said he is also concerned about the number of murders taking place in the precinct.
He appealed to community members to work together with security agencies in the precinct in the fight against crime.

JMPD members in attendance were Christopher Netshifhefhe, Khensani Maswanganye and Neliswa Mbangulwa.
They requested for joint operations with SAPS in the precinct.
This request was welcomed by the SAPS.
