Jeppe Boys recognises its outstanding learners

The guest speaker was Mduduzi Mnisi, head boy of 2009.

Jeppe High School for Boys celebrated academic excellence at its valediction service recently.

The guest speaker was Mduduzi Mnisi, head boy of 2009.

The Dux Award for Academic Excellence went to Abdullah Bemath. This award is given to the top scholar of the matric class.

Justin van Aardt received the HF Schoon Award for Bilingualism.

This award is given to the learner who maintains the highest combined averages in English home language and either Afrikaans or isiZulu first additional language.

Claudio Abelho received the Dan Swart Award for Best Art Portfolio and the Afeltra Award for Best Art Piece.

Shade Glautier received the David Goble Award for Outstanding Creative Writing.

Jonathan Bosch received the Du Guigne Award for Best Literary Essay.

David Newton received the Robbie Coelho Award for Overall Achievement in Cultural Activities.

Jordan Johnson received the Meredith Award for Sportsman of the Year.

Kegan Litchfield received the Scott Cup for School Spirit.

Lee Tadhliwa and George Mofokeng received the Warburton Trophy for Meritorious Service.

This award is given to a Grade 12 learner who has not only given selflessly of himself on the sports field but has also constantly made himself available to assist in various aspects of life at the school.

A proud and passionate Jeppe Boy, he is looked up to by the younger learners and respected by his peers in both the school and the hostel.

Muzilikazi Manyike received the Glendinning Award for Outstanding Achievement.

This award is given to the Jeppe Boy who has achieved the greatest individual distinction in the school, whether it be a sporting, cultural or academic achievement.

He also received the Rotary Cup for Service Above Self for an outstanding year of service, dedication and strong leadership.

Karel Zowitsky received the Senator Haitas Award in Memory of Byron Haitas.

This award is for the Grade 12 learner, other than the head boy, who in the eyes of his peers and the staff has best exemplified the qualities of leadership, discipline, devotion to duty and esprit de corps.

The Headmaster’s Award went to Moeketsi Mashibini and Michael de Kock.

The school congratulates all the award winners and academic achievers and wishes all the boys leaving at the end of the year good luck and success in their future endeavours.
