Robbie Vermont, membership secretary of the Modderfontein Conservation Society said the houses on Main St belonged to the factory managers including the Frans Hoeing Haus which belonged to the factory’s ‘big boss’.
The architecture of the museum house was not changed since the factory days.
“The houses were built facing north-facing, how houses were built in Europe, facing the sun,” said Vermont.
Community members who are interested in going to the museum will find it open on Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 8am to noon.
Thursdays mornings are for group tours.
Advance bookings are important for groups.
