Edenvale woman found in shallow grave, car burnt

“The deceased was reported missing on February 18 at Edenvale SAPS.”

Gauteng SAPS is investigating a case of murder after the body of a 42-year-old Edenvale woman was recently found.

Her body was discovered by police on February 19 in a suitcase buried in a shallow grave near the R511 road in Pretoria West.

Earlier this week the NEWS was informed that police believe the woman was a Dowerglen resident.

“The deceased was reported missing on February 18 at Edenvale SAPS,” said Brig Mathapelo Peters.

She said through collaboration with police from Limpopo and Gauteng along with Tracker, police found the women’s partially burnt Mercedes-Benz.

The car was found by Limpopo police in Jane Furse.

“On February 19 Sgt Henning of Pretoria K9 Unit employed the services of search-and-rescue dog Tyson to search for the woman,” said Peters.

“Tyson reacted positively to a spot in the veld and after some digging, the police found a travel suitcase.”

Peters said Tyson reacted positively again to the suitcase.

It was later determined that the woman’s body was in the suitcase.

Peters said a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

“A motive for the murder is yet to be determined,” said Peters.

Police are appealing for information from the public to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, and to apprehend the perpetrator(s) of this crime.

Information can be reported, anonymously, by calling the crime stop number 08600 10111 or by contacting the nearest police station.
