#IMadeMyMark: Mothibe buoyant ahead of elections

Mothibe described the mood in the area as positive and electrifying.

Cleveland CPF chairperson Godfrey Mothibe shared his thoughts and hopes for the upcoming May 8 elections.

Mothibe described the mood in the area as positive and electrifying.

“Political parties are at liberty to campaign freely in every part of the precinct and the community in general. While the role of the CPF is minimal at this stage, we have not received any major complaints from any political party. The mood is positive and electrifying,” said Mothibe.

He said he hopes the community’s support of the elections will raise the profile of the CCPF in future.

“We hope that after the elections there will be major changes with regards to the status of CPFs. This refers to assistance and support, from a policy aspect. We need an annual budget to secure resources that will make it feasible to execute our programmes and crime awareness campaigns.

“The continual existence of CPFs in the community, as a partner to SAPS, is crucial. It doubles the crime-fighting efforts in respective neighbourhoods.”

He reminded the community that voting is a democratic right.

“We wish for free and fair elections without any form of intimidation to voters. Community members are ready for the elections,” Mothibe said.
