“This is to ensure there is high visibility in our area, where we can reduce crime. The safety of our residents is of importance to us, especially over pay day when crime might become higher,” said acting Bedfordview SAPS station commander Lt Col Eric Mhlongo.

Mhlongo said they will be doing a stop-and-search operation where EMPD will issue tickets and SAPS will be searching vehicles.
Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Capt André de Jager said officers need to work together on this operation to ensure safety of the officers.

“Thank you to all of you for joining us today. We appreciate you being here.
“We need to work together as a team to stop crime in the area,” said Tyrone Clark from BCPF.

Mhlongo added that this is a joint operation with security companies in the area.
“We cannot combat crime without the helping hand of security companies in our area,” said Mhlongo.
Security companies patrolling for the operation were RAG and Cortac Tactical Response.
