Joburg Flying Squad arrests 16

Arrests included one suspect apprehended for murder, one for reckless and negligent driving and two for armed robbery.

Officers from Joburg Flying Squad arrested 16 suspects during routine crime prevention patrols from June 14 to 18.

Officers also recovered 11 stolen vehicles, one stolen motorbike and an unlicensed Beretta 9mm including ammunition.

Arrests included one suspect apprehended for murder, one for reckless and negligent driving and two for armed robbery.

A suspect was arrested for assault common, while one was arrested for vehicle theft and nine others for possession of drugs.

“The stolen motorbike recovered was a silver Honda,” said Flying Squad spokesperson Raymond Sambo.

“The vehicles included a silver Mercedes Benz, white Ford Ranger, a BMW and three white Nissan NP200 bakkies

Sambo encouraged members of the public to support the SAPS by reporting crime and suspicious persons and activities.
