“Our amazing guide explained the history of the caves, such as how the stalagmites and stalactites were mined by the Italians for calcium in the late 1800s and how these grow at a maximum rate of 1cm per 100 years,” said Jarod.

Jarod said the patrol then headed to the museum and then to their camping sight for the evening.

“We arrived at the camping area, which is owned by a scout master of another troop, where we pitched our tent and then went to prepare a fire to both sit around and cook our meal for the evening,” said Jarrod.

Jarod will be off to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, America.
