About 50 cars were at the starting point in Green Valley Shopping Centre and 30 more cars joined the convoy at the final destination in Cullinan.

Run For Paws charity drive moved in a convoy from Greenstone to Cullinan recently to raise funds for animals in need.

Run for Paws had a convoy of car crews, car companies like Sportech, local car enthusiasts with their sports cars and bikers in support of Santa Cause for Paws Organisation.

About 50 cars were at the starting point at the Green Valley Shopping Centre with other 30 cars joining at the tail-end of the convoy towards the final destination in Cullinan.

SCFP raises funds and collects animal supplies to donate to organisations such as the local Edenvale SPCA and other animal centres all around South Africa.

Run for Paws is an initiative by SCFP volunteer, Fabio Ribeiro, who fell in love with the cause and decided to find ways to get more supplies.

Every car had an entry fee. The Green Valley Shopping Centre store and Piccola Rossa donated R5 for each sale on the day.

Fabio, the organiser of the drive, said approximately R8 500 was raised.

“This will go a long way in helping the many animals across South Africa.

“A massive thank you to each and every person who attended, as well as the volunteers.

“Without your support it would have never been possible,” said Fabio.

For locals who want to donate to the cause, there is still time to do so.

Fabio said he was organising a second edition of Run for Paws.

“With Run for Paws Edition 2, we are bringing even more people together, more supercars and even more donations to help all these animals in need.”

To donate to SCFP contact Fabio on 0837009656 for any donations.

Run For Paws Edition 2 will be held in September 29 at Rossa in the Green Valley Shopping Centre.
