The culinary company and its Val Bonne Country Estate brand will be moving all businesses out of the Modderfontein Reserve in December 2019.

The management team said a new tenant will take over, but they cannot discuss that arrangement.

Community members have had many sad reactions regarding the closure.

At Hops End Brewpub will continue to be a community-based brewery and will work with the new tenant taking over Val Bonne’s space after they move.

“Although the decision makes us a little nostalgic due to the investment, hard work and development over the past six years, it is the best decision for our business and we are excited about our next chapter,” said the management team.

At Hops End Brewpub owner Julian Pienaar said they will work with the new tenant that will be coming in as they did with Val Bonne.

According to Pienaar, Val Bonne and At Hops End had a joint venture.

Val Bonne was responsible for the food and big festivals and At Hops End Brewpub focused on the brewery.

“At Hops End Brewpub will continue to be a community-based brewery,” said the owner.
