The festive season is around the corner and that means giving and receiving gifts.
Ward 118 and 66 councillors understand that not all are fortunate and would like to give something to those less fortunate with the help of the community.
Ward 66 Clr Carlos Da Rocha is doing his annual soccer ball collection for the underprivileged children of Ward 66.
He has been doing the soccer ball collection for Christmas for seven years.
“By collecting balls every year we give our underprivileged children something that they could never afford, and once a year we manage to do something for someone else instead of ourselves,” said Da Rocha.
Like every year, he will partner with Iain Wade from Caffiain Coffee Shop in Kensington.

“I would like to thank the coffee shop for supporting my soccer ball collection for the past seven years and for the community’s support,” said Da Rocha.
People can drop the balls off at the coffee shop at 136 Queen Street.
Ward 118 Clr Neuren Pietersen and Natasha Gunn Sebek will give back to the Strathyre Girls’ Home again this year with a gift collection drive.
This will be the third year they are doing the gifts collection for the girls’ home.
“We want to put a smile on the girls’ faces and give a little,” said Pietersen.
This year, in addition to teddy bears, they will also collect clothes for girls, toiletries and stationery.
The drop-off point for the donations is at Die Kneipe and Cut ‘n Craft in Queen Street.
