Stinging Bees take it home
“It was a privilege to be part of the exhibition match and the finals of the u-23s. It was a lot of fun."
The SuperSport Wheelchair Basket Challenge u-23 senior men’s final took place on November 16 at Mandeville Indoor Sports Centre.
The u-23 Gauteng men’s and North West players were eagerly anticipating the match and were prepared to reign supreme.

The North West u-23 senior men’s team beat Gauteng 56-52.
The players were joined by Springbok centre Jesse Kriel, who went out to witness the finals of the wheelchair basket challenge.

The Springbok player was in awe of the athleticism of players and he also participated in an exhibition match to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the wheelchair basketball challenge.
“It was a privilege to be part of the exhibition match and the finals of the u-23s. It was a lot of fun.

“I got some blisters on my hands. Sometimes as athletes we are spoilt and then you come to an environment like this where the players work even harder,” Kriel said.
The finals showcased the incredible talent and tenacity of South Africa’s wheelchair basketball stars.

North West Stinging Bees won R100 000 for their triumphant match against Gauteng.
