
ANC mayoral candidate Geoff Makhubo claimed victory when Johannesburg Council elected him executive mayor this afternoon.

Former mayor Herman Mashaba stepped down and announced in October his last day in office at the end of November.
The DA fielded Funzela Ngobeni, the Economic Freedom Fighters nominated Musa Novela and the ANC nominated Geoff Makhubo.
