Edenvale author makes a name for himself
"Because of my zeal and passion to have the information on hard copy, I persisted."
Eastleigh resident Mduduzi Mvuri recently published his second book, World Events and Inventions 1500 to 2010 AD, a follow-on of World Events and Inventions.
Thirty-seven-year-old Mduduzi started writing World Events and Inventions at the age of 17, and it was published five years later.
Mduduzi said his interest in writing started with his love of history at school, so he decided to detail the history of information.
“What inspired me most to be an author was the love of writing, reading about history and people who made the impossible possible.”
He said Daniel Defoe, author of Robinson Crusoe, is one of the authors who inspired him.
“People who made history made me love and cherish the works of great people.
“l decided to ensure the names of great people from years gone by and those present are not forgotten and are cherished for generations to come.”

Mduduzi said his book focuses on individuals who have inspired or transformed humanity to be what it is today.
“It includes people who have played significant roles in our society and the world at large.”
Mduduzi said while writing the second book, he became discouraged at some stage, especially when Google became popular.
He said Google allows information to be accessed easily.
“Because of my zeal and passion to have the information on hard copy, I persisted.”
He explained the publishing of his first book gave him the confidence to persevere.
“I adopted a never-die attitude.”
Mduduzi said despite the typing challenges, sending manuscripts to publishing houses and the sacrifices he made, he is happy his hard work is starting to pay off.
World Events and Inventions 1500 to 2010 AD is currently available in all City of Ekurhuleni libraries.

“It feels overwhelming seeing other people appreciating my work,” he added.
Mduduzi believes it is the book’s informative value which led to it becoming available at the libraries.
He said those interested in obtaining a copy of the book can send an email to temmyjones99@gmail.com or call 060 314 9111.
When asked for advice for aspiring authors, Mduduzi said to never give up.
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and dreams delayed are not dreams denied.”
Mduduzi highlighted that a third book, a continuation of the series is set to be out soon.
