Rock-throwing incident reported on N12 near Gillooly’s Interchange

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant on the N12 after a rock-throwing incident damaged a vehicle’s windscreen.

Another rock-throwing incident has been reported on the N12, prompting police to urge motorists to remain vigilant.

Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga said police are investigating an incident reported on September 4 at about 22:40.

According to Modiga, a man was driving a silver-grey Mercedes-Benz along the N12 towards Gillooly’s Interchange, travelling from the Boksburg side towards the Edenvale off-ramp.

While the vehicle was passing under a bridge, an unknown man allegedly threw a rock at it, damaging the front windscreen.

No injuries were reported.

The incident was reported to Bedfordview SAPS, which said police visibility, patrols and monitoring of bridges in the area would be intensified to prevent further incidents and improve motorists’ safety.

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant when travelling along the N12 and to report suspicious activity to police.
