Covid-19: Joburg east ward councillors call for calm
They issued a plea to the communities to work together and practice safety measures for the sake of their health.
Covid-19 cases in South Africa continue to rise, and people in the community are fearful of what the future holds.
Joburg east ward councillors Neuren Pietersen (Ward 118) and Carlos da Rocha (Ward 66) encouraged residents to take precautions and avoid panic.
They issued a plea to the communities to work together and practice safety measures for the sake of their health.

“With regards to the Covid-19, the community must work together. A situation like this forces us all to think of others too,” said da Rocha.
Pietersen added that if people suspect they may have been infected, they should implement steps to avoid spreading it to other community members.
“The community must also understand the importance of social distancing. Try to interact with people as little as possible,” said Pietersen.
Listen:
“The fewer people you interact with, the smaller the chance of getting infected. Keep your hands clean at all times.
“Keep a distance whenever you talk to someone and try and not have any body contact,” said da Rocha.
Da Rocha urged the community to remain calm and make calculated decisions.
“I strongly believe that this is not something that will last forever. We all need to act responsibly,” he said.
