Pride, patriotism and high morale portrayed during lockdown.

Mosesi described his interaction with the Army.

Patriotism, discipline and high morale were lessons Andrew Mosesi said he learned as he assisted law enforcement during lockdown operations on April 5.

The Sebenza CPF Cluster chairperson and the Community Police Relations (CPR) representative of the Department of Community Safety was selected to help and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) with enforcing lockdown regulations.

Mosesi described his lockdown schedule.

“I have had a very busy lockdown, especially from March 30 to April 2, when we monitored the work done by Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers at South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) pay points.”

The CPF helped social grant recipients with managing queues, sanitising people’s hands and helping them maintain social distancing.

“We have been assisting law enforcement with enforcing lockdown regulations in the evening. This included closing down illegal liquor stores and non-essential services such as hair salons.”

The chairperson said Modderfontein and Greenstone residents have coorporated.

“The shopping facilities have complied with regulations.”

Mosesi said they patrol in Greenstone and Modderfontein daily.

Andrew Mosesi are seen with members of the SANDF.

Mosesi described his interaction with the SANDF.

“It was very overwhelming because I always saw them from a distance at national events or at the Rand Easter Show. To speak to them one-on-one was priceless for me.

“They have a high level of integrity and are humble and polite.”

He urged people not to fear SANDF members.

“They are good people and I have not experienced discomfort with the members. ”

Mosesi said the SAPS have also intensified its operations to enforce the regulations.

“The police’s commitment and dedication is commendable.”
