Man airlifted after crash

"A medical helicopter was activated to airlift the man from the scene to a nearby hospital."

A man believed to be in his 30s was airlifted following a crash in Lombardy East, Johannesburg on Friday night.

According to ER24 and Netcare the incident occurred at about 10pm.

“Paramedics attended the scene where they found a vehicle that crashed into a tree near the corners of Chaucer and Victoria roads,” said Werner Vermaak from ER24.

“Upon assessment, they found that the driver was still trapped inside of the vehicle. Rescue tools were used to free him from the wreckage.

“A medical helicopter was activated to airlift the man from the scene to a nearby hospital.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known.
