Scouts battle it out during annual competition
After months of virtual activities, the scouts enjoyed the autumn weather and the chance to put the “out” back in “scouting”.
The North Rand Scout District took advantage of the relaxed Covid-19 restrictions to run its annual boot hike. Small patrols of Scouts completed a variety of activities at the grounds of the North Eastern Radio Flyers.
Activities included pioneering, hiking, first aid, cooking and learning about radio-controlled aeroplanes. Andrew Campbell, the district commissioner of the North Rand district, said after months of virtual activities the scouts enjoyed the autumn weather and the chance to put the “out” back in “scouting”.
He thanked the North Eastern Radio Flyers for providing the venue and Harmelia Gardens Air Scout Group for organising the event. He congratulated the Wildebeest Patrol of the First Bedfordview Scout Troop, which won the competition.
