Residents take charge of their community

“These projects are launched to promote the community in a proactive manner and also to ensure that a natural feature, such as the spruit, is left in a better condition than before,”

Members of AfriForum’s Edenvale branch came together when they conducted a cleanup of a portion of Illiondale.

The project took place at the Margaret Road Bridge on June 19.

Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s district coordinator for the East Rand said the litter around the bridge and spruit was an eyesore for quite some time.

She explained that AfriForum decided to assist the community by cleaning some of it up.

“These projects are launched to promote the community in a proactive manner and also to ensure that a natural feature, such as the spruit, is left in a better condition than before,” said Dewet.

Dewet said the Margaret Road Bridge clean up is one of many clean-up projects that will take place around the waterways of Edenvale.
