Darien explained that when he entered the pageant, he felt nervous to be a part of it as it was the first large pageant he competed in.
“My most memorable moment was all the fun I had and all the new people I met,” he said.
Darien, a former Edenvale High School learner, started his pageant journey in 2018 at a school pageant.
“This was exciting and helped me decide to join Universal Models and pursue my interest further,” he explained.
“Participating in the pageant at school inspired me to try something different and step out of my comfort zone into a new unknown world.”
Darien has been with Universal Models for four years.
Besides winning his most recent title, other pageants Darien has entered and won this year included Senior Boys winner of Mr and Miss Starlight, Overall Winner for Senior Males in the Mr and Miss Grand Classic, the Overall
Supreme Male Winner of Face of Winter and the Overall Male Winner of the Mr and Miss Premier Star.
Darien explained what he enjoys most about pageants is the fun involved in them, meeting new people and making new friends.
When he is not preparing for pageants, Darien enjoys playing rugby, hockey and being on medical standby at hockey games.
Looking to the future, Darien is working towards competing in Mr South Africa and representing the country on an international level.
