For those who want to give their work team a break after a hard year, consider Melville Koppies Nature Reserve and Heritage Site.

Already SA Breweries has spent a morning hiking, learning about the history of the area and has marvelled at the biodiversity of a nature reserve right in the heart of Johannesburg.

A Discovery team is to visit soon.

The visit will cost a company R80 per person (with a minimum of R1 000 for the group) and includes a volunteer guide from Melville Koppies who will walk with the team.

For other members of the public, Melville Koppies Central (Nature Reserve and Heritage Site) is open every Sunday from 08:00 to 11:30.

There is no need to pre-book.

The cost of Sunday hikes are R80 for adults and R40 for children.

All income is used for maintenance and security of the Koppies, which amounts to R22 000 per month.
Security on the Koppies is provided and visitors can park in secure parking opposite the entrance at Marks Park in Judith Road, Emmarentia.
