Kimolin joined the EGHS family in January 2017 as a Grade Eight learner; however, he died in hospital on April 20, 2017, after he was struck by a vehicle while on his way home. He was 13 years old.
Public relations and marketing coordinator of EGHS Georgette Peristeris described Kimolin as a popular teenager in the community and the school.
She said Kimolin was excited to start high school and a new chapter in his life.
“Kimolin was only with EGHS for three months, but he made an immense impact on the teachers and learners,” highlighted Georgette.
She said Kimolin’s talent, helpfulness, friendliness, loyalty to his friends and his love for God made him stand out.
Kimolin’s mother, Mogie, said his smile was his trademark.
Kimolin had an immense passion for music, specifically playing the drums.
When the NEWS spoke to Mogie in 2017, she believed her son aspired to be a musician or had hoped to work in the music industry.
Georgette said the school was lucky enough to capture Kimolin doing what he loved most.

This year would have been Kimolin’s final year at EGHS.
In light of this, Mogie shared a message with the matrics of 2021.
She said, “Work hard, this is your key to the world out there.
“Be proud of the milestones you have reached. Remember, the decisions you make now will affect your future good or bad.”

She highlighted that this year’s matrics are future leaders, presidents, teachers and doctors.
“Do not be discouraged when you reach an obstacle, use it as a stepping stone. There is always a solution to every challenge.”
Mogie encouraged the matrics to return to their school and honour their teachers.
“Let them be proud of the fruits of their impartation.”
She thanked the teachers at EGHS for standing the test of time.
“Kimolin will forever be part of the EGHS family,” said Georgette.
