Joburg Zoo festival is back on

This year’s festivities will feature an enchanting collection of illuminated life-size animal characters and classical, harmonious entertainment, food and craft night market for visitors to the Joburg Zoo.

Joburg Theatre, in association with the City of Johannesburg entities Joburg City Parks and Zoo and City Power, present the annual Joburg Festival of Lights.

This year’s festivities will feature an enchanting collection of illuminated life-size animal characters and classical, harmonious entertainment, food and craft night market for visitors to the Joburg Zoo.

Parking for the event is available at the Upper Park Drive parkade. The event will be open from 19:00 to 22:00 daily except on Mondays, from November 25 to January 2.

Patrons can enjoy a tranquil walk in the zoo on a designated lit route away from the animals under trees decorated in enchanting lights.

The Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights offers patrons entertainment and a night out in the zoo for all ages. Tickets are available at R75 for children aged three to 12, R90 for pensioners and R150 for children aged 12 and over, as well as adults.

Children under the age of three will have free entrance.

Visitors are allowed to bring their own camp chairs.

The following is not allowed at the venue:
• No balloons or balls allowed
• No pets allowed
• No alcohol allowed
• No mask, no entry
• No cooler boxes
• No food

Please allow for extra time for Covid-19 screening procedures. Entertainment is weather dependent.

November 30 to December 5 – Joburg Ballet’s Nutcracker and Soulphiatown
December 7 to December 12 – Art of Dance and Xoli B
December 14 to December 19 – Shef and the Kitchen and Tribhangi Dance Theatre
December 21 – Sempre Opera with Christmas carols and Mzansi Youth Choir
December 22 – Christmas carols by Mzansi Youth Choir
December 23 – Sempre Opera with Christmas Carols
December 24 – Christmas carols by Mzansi Youth Choir
December 26 – Sempre Opera with Christmas carols
December 28 to January 2 – Bongi Mthombeni and Brenda Mtambo
