Investigation into abandoned pre-termination notices underway – CoE
“We hope that when the investigation concludes we will understand how the notices ended up where they were found.”
The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has started an investigation after multiple pre-termination notices were found seemingly discarded in Edenvale during March.

The matter was brought to the NEWS’ attention by Ward 18 Clr Heather Hart after a community member reported the 17 discarded notices.
The notices, which were found in a pipe on a pavement, were intended for Fourth Avenue residents.
CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the appointed credit control service provider reported the pre-termination stubs as lost.
“We are investigating what transpired,” said Dlamini.
“We hope that when the investigation concludes, we will understand how the notices ended up where they were found.”
Dlamini said if the investigation determines the service provider was negligent then they will be penalised financially in terms of service contract provisions.
He said affected residents who did not receive the initial notices should receive ad-hoc notices issued by CoE.
Dlamini urged all community members to return any notices they may discover to their nearest customer care centre.
“This must be done so the city can conduct a proper investigation,” said Dlamini.
