Trivia master Max Savioli told the NEWS that at the start of each month a new charity will be chosen and every Friday night event will benefit that charity.

For June the chosen charity was the Edenvale SPCA.

“One week participants had to bring a minimum of one 8kh dog food and the next week each person brought a blanket,” Max said.

Teams participating in the quiz that brought donations were given a five-point head start for the event.

Additionally, if teams dressed in the week’s theme, they were awarded an additional five points.

Max said giving back was a big part of his life.

“I approached Walter and asked if he’d been keen to join the trivia quiz and he was all in.”

He added that the fundraising added a different aspect to the popular quiz nights.

Natasha Naude, from Walter’s Deck, said everyone at the venue enjoyed the quiz events.

“Charities are close to both our hearts, especially animals,” she said.

Naude explained that Walter’s Deck opened on Plantation Road, Edenvale, on April 1, during the lockdown.

“Liquor sales were closed at the time but we had previously had a restaurant in Benoni and were looking for a different place.”
