Police remove prohibited items from local schools
The campaign was part of police efforts to ensure a safer learning environment for school learners.
The Bedfordview SAPS with the help of various stakeholders embarked on a school search and seizure campaign on Tuesday to ensure a safe learning environment for all.

The surprise search was conducted at Sizwe Secondary School and Bedfordview High School.

They found knives, dagga, cigarettes and a dagga grinder.
For the operation, they joined forces with the Alberton and Primrose SAPS, SAPS and EMPD K9 Unit, Gauteng Community Safety, Mamba Security, CPF and Primrose youth desk.

Bedfordview police spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga said about 400 learners were searched in both schools.
“The learners were found in possession of illegal items and were warned. Disciplinary action will be taken internally.

“Learners were also advised not to bring illegal items to school,” she explained.
She added that the campaign aims to promote a safer learning environment.
