Kloof and Van Buuren sinkhole unrepaired for two months

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys requests for reinstatements on Kloof and Van Buuren roads after a leak was repaired two months ago.

A sinkhole that was fixed after about a month has now been sitting unrepaired for two months.

The sinkhole on the corner of Kloof and Van Buuren roads had been a traffic obstruction since January this year.

The City of Ekurhuleni eventually fixed the water leak that had caused the sinkhole on February 4.

However, a resident recently enquired with Ward 20 Councillor Jill Humphreys whether the council could install proper barricades at the intersection to prevent vehicles from driving over the incomplete work.

Humphreys said on April 25 that she has been pressuring the City for months to have the reinstatements done.

“It is probable that the contractors expected to do it have not been paid. However, I’ve again been reassured that it will be done shortly. No specific timelines have been provided,” said Humphreys.

She further advised that the shockingly dangerous section must be avoided.
