Tzu Chi Foundation South Africa warmly invites you, your family, and friends to the Tzu Chi Vegetarian Fair on Sunday, 24 August 2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 at Jing Si Hall, Bedfordview.
This vibrant, family-friendly event is a celebration of green living, plant-based delights, and giving back to the community. It promises something for everyone — whether you’re passionate about vegetarian food, eager to support a good cause, or simply looking for a joyful day out.
Here’s what you can expect on the day:
A wide variety of delicious vegetarian food stalls

Charity sales and lucky draw prizes including a TV, cash, and more!
Fun games and activities for the whole family
Book and clothing donation drive – we welcome donations of gently used English books and clothing

- New Sprout Tutor Classes
The New Sprout Tutor Classes started on Saturday 31 May 2025. We invited 60 kids from grades 5 to 7 from the rural communities of Lion Park, Olievenhoutbosch, Primrose, Ivory Park and Tembisa to assist them with English and Mathematics.
Our tutors are qualified teachers from local public schools, and each teacher is equipped with a wealth of experience in the relevant subject matter. To enhance the learning experience in the classroom, we also have Tutor Assistants who accompany the teachers and assist where needed. Tutor assistants are filtered through qualifications, experience and academic results to ensure that our students are receiving quality tutoring.
Extra mural coaches and volunteer assistants are welcomed each week to teach life skills and team-building activities to enable our students to have a holistic learning experience.
In addition to the tutoring and extra mural activities, we provide and promote character education, known as the Jing Si Aphorisms, which are life lessons to promote good characteristics in our students.

- Volunteer Days
Open volunteer days take place twice a month: on the third Saturday of each month and the last Sunday of each month. Volunteers sign up via the foundation’s WhatsApp channels and select their preference of contribution from refurbishing bamboo banks, packing clothes ready for winter distribution, packing and distributing items for outreach and charity programs, and making crafts for the community. A flower arrangement class and tea ceremony are also on the day’s list of activities. People of all ages are welcome to join and be a part of sowing seeds of love to those around us.
Volunteer days start at 8h30 and end at 15h00 after a vegetarian lunch and a sharing experience.
In addition, we have a Tzu Chi Children’s Class from 10h00 to 12h00 noon (Ages 6-12)
Flower Arrangement Class from 10h00 to 12h00 noon
Tea Ceremony Class from 13h30 to 15h00
