Police investigate morning robbery, mall operations continue amid active crime scene

Eastgate Shopping Centre has confirmed a robbery took place at one of its stores just after 9:00 on November 14.

The incident has been declared an active crime scene, with police and security teams currently on the scene.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

In a statement on social media, Eastgate Centre management acknowledged the robbery, which reportedly occurred around 9:15 on the upper level of the mall.

“The safety and security of shoppers, staff, and tenants is of the utmost importance to Eastgate,” the post read, assuring the public that the SAPS is investigating.

The mall remains open and is trading as usual, despite the ongoing investigation.
