Police recover stolen goods and catch suspects after truck hijacking in Elandsfontein
The suspects allegedly forced the driver to drive to Mabondeni squatter camp, where they offloaded the furniture with the help of others.
Bedfordview police have arrested four suspects following a truck hijacking and kidnapping incident in Elandsfontein on January 27.
According to Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga, a furniture delivery truck was hijacked at gunpoint at around 20:00 on Kangaroo Street in Elandsfontein.
“The complainant alleged that he and his crew were making deliveries when two armed suspects approached them, ordering them out of the truck.

“They searched the victims, took the driver’s phone, and one crew member escaped,” said Modiga.

The suspects allegedly forced the driver to drive to Mabondeni squatter camp, where they offloaded the furniture with the help of others.
“The complainant was later released with an empty truck and drove to a Shell garage in Kempton Park, where he met a coworker who contacted the truck owner,” said Modiga.
The owner, along with the complainant, returned to Mabondeni with the assistance of Night Guard Security and reported the incident to the police.
“A joint operation between police and the security company led to the recovery of some of the stolen furniture hidden in various shacks, and three suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property,” she said.
Investigations led to the arrest of a fourth suspect in connection with the hijacking and kidnapping.
