Man arrested in Elandsfontein for attempted murder and illegal firearm possession
A 33-year-old man faces charges of attempted murder, intimidation, and possession of an unlicensed firearm after allegedly firing a gun at his family home in Elandsfontein on December 6.
A man was arrested for attempted murder, intimidation and having an unlicensed gun and ammunition on Olifant Street in Elandsfontein on December 6.
Bedfordview SAPS communication liaison officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga said the complainant alleged that while sleeping, her intoxicated younger brother returned home, shouting at the children for vomiting on his bed.
He threatened to shoot everyone, saying, “They don’t know I have a firearm”. A gunshot was heard, then he fled the dining room.

Modiga said the complainant’s 13-year-old stated that the brother had fired a shot next to his leg and left.
The police were called, and the brother led them to where he had hidden a gun close to a nearby school.
No injuries were reported. The suspect was detained at the Bedfordview Police Station for further investigation.
