Bedfordview CPF and SAPS team up for crime prevention operation

A joint effort by local law enforcement and security partners led to 29 arrests, one impounded vehicle and the removal of dangerous items during a visibility operation on October 11.

To strengthen community safety, a co-ordinated visibility and crime prevention initiative was held on October 11.

The Bedfordview CPF, the Bedfordview SAPS, local security partners, neighbouring CPFs and key role players carried out operation Ukusebenza.

The collaborators assembled at the Village View Shopping Centre for a parade before proceeding to the areas for the operation.

Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga shared the results:
• Nine illegal immigrants arrested;
• Four arrests for drunk driving;
• Nine arrests for SAPS fines totalling R4 300;
• Five arrests for traffic fines totalling R3 750;
• One vehicle was impounded;
• One toy gun was confiscated;
• One dangerous weapon was found abandoned.

The Bedfordview CPF thanked those who donated water, drinks and snacks to the patrollers at SPAR and dropped them at the Residents Action Group.

“The donation assists our CPF patrollers and our guests from neighbouring communities,” said James Chang, PR officer of the Bedfordview CPF.
