Edenvale SAPS recover firearm stolen in 1995, arrest suspect
A suspect was arrested after Edenvale SAPS officers spotted a suspicious vehicle during crime prevention patrols and recovered an illegal 9mm pistol with ammunition.
Members of the Edenvale SAPS crime prevention team arrested one suspect and recovered an illegal firearm while conducting patrols in town.
The suspect was arrested in Edenvale after officers noticed the driver driving suspiciously through Edenvale.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Shadrack Magcuntsu, the Vispol commander for Edenvale Police Station, the team was deployed across Edenvale’s four policing sectors between July 18 and 19.

“At about 23:00, Sergeant Malapane and Constable Khumalo spotted a suspicious red VW Polo skipping red traffic lights and a chase began. The vehicle was cornered on Second Avenue.”
He said the driver and the white VW Polo were both searched once stopped.
Magcuntsu said the driver was found in possession of an illegal 9mm pistol with 11 rounds.
Magcuntsu said that through further investigation, it was found that the firearm was stolen in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, in 1995.
The Suspect was detained at Edenvale SAPS for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
