Ekurhuleni city manager engages National Treasury on revenue services review
City Manager Kagiso Lerutla is leading strategic engagements with National Treasury to assess Ekurhuleni’s revenue-generating services, including water, electricity, waste management and wastewater treatment.
City Manager Kagiso Lerutla is at the Germiston Council Chamber for a second day of strategic engagements with National Treasury officials, focusing on strengthening governance, efficiency and financial sustainability across Ekurhuleni’s revenue-generating services.
The sessions include a review of key municipal functions such as water, electricity, waste management and wastewater treatment.
Treasury’s assessment examines service performance, internal controls, budget management and the alignment of key performance indicators with national metropolitan benchmarks.

During the engagements, Lerutla and senior management provided input on areas identified for improvement to ensure the City responds effectively to Treasury’s findings and enhances operational efficiency.
“The City of Ekurhuleni has already made notable progress in service delivery,” Lerutla said.
“Through continued focus on revenue collection and performance improvements, particularly under the #FixingTheFrontline programme, we aim to reinforce accountability, excellence and quality services for our residents.”
The discussions form part of the City’s broader efforts to strengthen governance and financial management, to ensure sustainable, efficient and high-quality municipal services for communities across Ekurhuleni.
