UPDATE: Bedfordview SAPS corrects its statement about place of arrest

Suspected drug dealer arrested at Nicol residential apartments and not hotel as originally stated by Bedfordview SAPS.

The Bedfordview SAPS issued an update regarding a suspect who was arrested for allegedly dealing drugs and violating section 102 of the Firearm Act.

The suspect was arrested on December 27 near a prominent business in Bedfordview.

Based on information that was provided by Bedfordview SAPS at the time, Bedfordview and Edenvale News reported that the incident had happened at the Nicol Hotel.

However, it has come to light that this was not the case and that the initial information provided to the News was incorrect.

In an updated statement, received on February 6, Bedfordview SAPS communication officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga said the suspect was arrested at the Nicol residential apartments and not the hotel as originally stated.

The arrest was made following a raid that was carried out by the members of the Bedfordview police, West Rank K9 Narcotics and the OC Narcotics Unit.

Modiga said officers leading the operation arrived at the Nicol residential apartments with a warrant for search and seizure.

Police discovered a licensed 9mm pistol in plain view.
