SA Guide-Dogs to host Family Fun Day on March 10

Tickets will be available at the door for R50 per adult and R20 for pensioners, while children under 12 will enter for free.

The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind will host a family fun day for the community on 126 Wroxham Road in Paulshof on March 10.

Celebrating the leap year, the theme for this event is Leap of Fun.

“We have a fun-filled programme planned for the day with many exciting activities,” said the regional marketing manager for the association, Nicole Barros.

Tickets will be available at the door for R50 per adult and R20 for pensioners, while children under 12 will enter for free.

Parking will be available at the Porsche dealership.

The event will run from 10:00 to 16:00.

Barros encouraged community members to visit the event and look at some of the association’s puppies in training, wearing cute outfits, or watch the assistance dogs demonstrate their unique skills in arena events.

Visitors can tour the facility and take a break at the Paws a Bit tea garden.

“This year, the College of Orientation and Mobility is celebrating 50 years of training practitioners in SA and 10 years of offering our services to SA communities. They will put on a fantastic demo of their amazing skills and services,” said Barros.

She dared community members to take on the challenge of the simulation or do a blindfolded walk with a guide dog.

The Kids’ Zone promises leaps of fun with face painting, a jumping castle, a magician, puppet shows by Leo’s Edutainment and more surprises.

She said visitors can enjoy the entertainment in the arena while cooling off at the Beer Garden, indulge in delicious eats and treats or shop at the various vendors at the market.

Visitors can also end the day as the winner of a new Suzuki Swift. Barros said guests need to enter the car raffle competition to stand double the chance of winning a new Suzuki Swift MT. For just R100, community members will get two entries into the draw.

You can buy raffle tickets on the day, and they will announce the winner at the festival.

No pets or dogs besides SA Guide-Dogs Assistance Dogs are allowed at the event.
