Locals enjoy market fun at Horwood’s Farm

Family fun was the order of the day as community members enjoyed some fresh air and sunshine at the monthly Horwoods Farm family market.

Held on March 3, community members, entrepreneurs and parkgoers were able to enjoy a day out and about while browsing many of the wares on sale.

Despite the market being held on the same day as the StaminoGro Edenvale Marathon, it was still a success with organiser Michelle van Scheltema stating that the day went well.

NPO Edenvale Ferals raised funds and created awareness about trapping, neutering and releasing feral felines.

This year the NPO celebrates its fifth birthday.

Christopher Mynhardt, chairperson of the organisation, said in the first two months of this year the NPO has already tended to 212 ferals (96 in January and 106 in February).

He said last year the monthly average was 80 cats.

In light of the NPO celebrating its fifth birthday and the need to raise more funds, several fundraisers will be held throughout the year.

One such fundraiser is a quiz night set to be held at the Bistro on Voortrekker Avenue at 19:00 on April 3. Entrance is R70 per person.
