Watch: Two killed in N12 West multi-vehicle crash
The crash involved 3 trucks and 7 motor vehicles.
Two motorists have been declared dead following a collision involving three trucks and 7 light motor vehicles on the westbound N12 freeway in Bedfordview.
Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) firefighters received the call at approximately 12:20 on Mary 20 and responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the entire freeway was temporarily closed due to the severity of the crash.
The crash resulted in jack-knifed trucks and a chemical spill on the road surface.
Paramedics declared two men, a truck driver and an SUV driver, dead at the scene.

The Jaws of Life were employed to extricate the truck driver.
Seven other people were treated for injuries and transported to various hospitals in Ekurhuleni.
The scene remains active as rescue and traffic officers continue accident rehabilitation efforts.

The Edenvale Community Police Forum has issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to avoid sharing sensitive content that could cause potential harm.
Crash scenes often involve injuries, trauma, and loss, profoundly impacting individuals, particularly those directly involved.

“Sharing images or details of these incidents without proper context or consideration can perpetuate distress and violate privacy,” the CPF stated.
“We urge all members to refrain from sharing such images without careful thought and consideration for those affected.”
