Melville Koppies gives mothers a treat

Safe parking is available opposite the entrance to the Melville Koppies at Marks Park Sports Club in Judith Road, Emmarentia.

The Melville Koppies were busy on Mother’s Day.

“Our monthly poetry session honoured mothers, and many families spent time together exploring, revelling in the views, or searching for the treasures of the Treasure Hunt,” said volunteer Jenny Grice.

Grice said others went on the three-hour guided tour and were enthralled by the many things to see and learn.

Guide David Carstens points out the site where the Geldenhuys family tried to search for gold.

“Season ticket holders returned to do their weekly 5km hike, and thanks to Le Breakfast Bean in Emmarentia, five lucky mothers received cappuccino vouchers.”

The Melville Koppies are open every Sunday between 08:00 and 11:30.

Security on the Koppies is provided, and the Melville Security Initiative (MSI) sponsors one Beagle security guard every Sunday.
