Better Bedfordview hosts golf day to raise funds

Top honours in this year’s betterball Stableford competition went to Leonard and Jason Pienaar.

The community clean-up NPO Better Bedfordview hosted a Golf Day at the Glendower Golf Club on October 11.
The event raised funds to help Better Bedfordview keep cleaning, restoring and maintaining roads, pavements, parks and public spaces.

“We are thrilled to have had a sold-out Golf Day, with a full field of golfers and overwhelming support from our generous sponsors and prize donors,” said Better Bedfordview chairperson Marina Constas.

She thanked everyone who contributed to the memorable day.

“We are especially grateful to our lead sponsor, BMW Bedfordview. Special thanks also go to Shemer Jewellers for the generous donation of a Longines watch that was auctioned to raise funds for Better Bedfordview,” she said.

BMW Bedfordview was the lead sponsor of this year’s Better Bedfordview Golf Day.

Top honours in this year’s betterball Stableford competition went to Leonard and Jason Pienaar. They won the fantastic first prize sponsored by Fancourt – a two-night stay at Fancourt on the Garden Route, with golf at the Montagu and Outeniqua courses.

“It is heartening to see our community come together like this to help us continue our mission to make Bedfordview better to benefit all.

“Together, we are making a real difference – in our neighbourhood and the lives of the 24 previously unemployed people who now work in the Better Bedfordview clean-up team,” Marina said.

“We are deeply grateful to all our entrants, sponsors, prize donors and volunteers.”

Better Bedfordview is an apolitical registered NPO that improves and maintains Bedfordview. The team sweeps streets, tidies, picks up litter and weeds, cuts grass, paints, paves, plants and fixes potholes.

Concerned residents started the NOPO, which committed community volunteers run.
