Bedfordview police arrest notorious gang suspects in Elandsfontein

Six suspects alleged to be part of a gang were arrested in connection with murder, armed robberies and contact crimes in Elandsfontein.

The Bedfordview SAPS busted a notorious gang in Elandsfontein, arresting six men linked to murder, contact crimes and armed robberies on October 17.

“We received intel about a notorious gang in Elandsfontein Sector 3, responsible for various crimes. The team swiftly operationalised the information.

“One suspect was linked to the brutal murder of an Albany truck driver earlier this year,” said the station’s communication liaison officer, Sergeant Lillian Modiga.

During the search, officers found a wanted suspect with a 9mm pistol and ammunition.

All six suspects were arrested for further investigations because the police discovered they were linked to a larger group.

“The suspects will undergo profiling and possible identification parades by the murder and robbery team to ensure a thorough investigation.

“The acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sinothi Ndaba, praised the team and community for their efforts, acknowledging that the feedback will be well-received,” said Modiga.

“This success story showcases the effectiveness of community-police collaboration and proactive policing strategies.

“This operation demonstrates the commitment of the SAPS to combating crime and ensuring public safety. Well done, Bedfordview SAPS team,” Modiga added.
