EMPD kicks off the annual festive season safety campaign

The EMPD launched its annual festive season safety campaign on November 15, aiming to intensify efforts in crime prevention, traffic law enforcement, and by-law compliance across the region.
Acting EMPD chief Julius Mkwanazi highlighted the urgency of the campaign, noting the anticipated rise in criminal activities as the holiday season approaches.

“We all know that criminals are on a roll during the festive period, so we must gear up early to protect citizens and their property,” Mkwanazi stated.
Emphasising road safety as a central focus, he added, “Road fatalities remain a huge concern at this time of year, and we have to work to contain and minimise them.”
With a dedicated commitment to public safety, Mkwanazi assured that the EMPD will work diligently to provide a secure and peaceful festive season for all Ekurhuleni residents.
