State-of-the-art equipment handed to Edenvale Hospital
“It is crucial facilities are equipped with the right resources to meet the demands of the community.”
The Edenvale Regional Hospital recently received a state-of-the-art X-ray machine when the Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, handed it over on November 15.
While at the hospital, the MEC reopened the refurbished paediatric X-ray room renovated by Plascon Krugersdorp.
Nkomo-Ralehoko said the handover was a milestone for the hospital.

“It marks the department’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services through investment in infrastructure and health technology across Gauteng’s public health facilities.
“As we hand over this X-ray machine, we are celebrating the arrival of this state-of-the-art technology and embracing the future where quality care is accessible for all,” said MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko.
She said with the Edenvale Regional Hospital’s proximity to Thembisa and Alexandra, patients would want to come to it.
“In our pursuit of excellence in healthcare, it is crucial facilities are equipped with the right resources to meet the community’s demands. As such, we must ensure our hospitals can deliver a swift and accurate diagnosis.”
Nkomo-Ralehoko emphasised that access to healthcare is a basic human right.

The hospital’s communications manager, Thabile Mkhatshwa, said the new equipment would alleviate the pressure on their radiology department.
The hospital has operated with one X-ray machine, often resulting in delays attributed to the need for constant repairs.
The new machine, featuring advanced technology, can capture high-quality trauma and emergency X-ray images and fast-track image processing to enable more accurate diagnoses.
The handover is part of the Gauteng Department of Health’s initiative to improve diagnostic services and, ultimately, the overall patient care experience.
Mkhatshwa said with the festive season fast approaching, the upgrade is particularly significant.
“The facility usually sees an increase in trauma and emergency cases during this busy period.”
