Jeppe Girls High hosts annual flower show
This year's show was opened by alumna Di Thompson.
Jeppe Girls High School hosted its 97th annual Flower Show on February 21 and 22, celebrating creativity, tradition, and the legacy of Ruth First.
This year’s event was officially opened by alumna Di Thompson, a member of the Class of 1971 and founder of the perfume company Dimanzi.
Fondly calling herself a “scent-trepreneur,” Thompson shared personal stories from her time at Jeppe, emphasising the lasting impact of her education and her family’s deep ties to the school.

She also reflected on her personal connection to the sunflower, describing it as a symbol of both the warmth of the sun and the love for her son.
Addressing the students, she delivered an empowering message, urging them to embrace the spirit of the In Her Shoes flower category and to always keep their “heads, heels, and standards high”.
Adding a poetic touch, she reminded attendees that “flowers are friends with petals,” leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
The event, rich in tradition and inspiration, once again showcased the school’s enduring commitment to excellence and creativity.
