Jeppe High learners spread the warmth

To build on the momentum of this global event, which saw blankets donated from across the world, the school launched a blanket drive over the school holidays.

Several Jeppe High School for Girls learners, accompanied by staff and the school’s headmistress, recently attended the unveiling of the world’s largest happiness blanket.

Unveiled on March 20, the heartwarming initiative was part of the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day charity initiative founded by the school’s esteemed alumna Carolyn Steyn over a decade ago.

The unveiling coincided with the United Nations International Day of Happiness and was showcased at the Nelson Mandela University’s Second Avenue Campus in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

Jeppe High School for Girls was honoured to be a part of this project, spreading joy and warmth.

With the icy Highveld winds and freezing temperatures upon us, learners will do their bit to wrap the poorest in our community in some Jeppe blankets or scarves crocheted with love.
