WATCH: Bedfordview learner’s attack by group goes viral

A Bedfordview High School learner was lured to a house and assaulted by a group of girls on May 10, an incident that was filmed and shared widely on social media. The case has sparked public outrage and is now under police investigation.

A learner from Bedfordview High School was assaulted by a group of fellow learners on May 10.

According to a spokesperson from Bedfordview police, the victim was at her home in Yeoville when she received a message from a friend, who later arrived with another girl.

The three left together, allegedly to get food. On the way, the second girl suggested stopping by her house to collect money.

Once they entered the house, the victim found six other girls waiting inside.

One of them began accusing her of something and then physically attacked her. The others soon joined in, assaulting the victim as a group.

A video of the attack began circulating on social media, drawing widespread attention.

As the footage gained traction online, it caught the interest of a political party and several gender-based violence organisations.

With their encouragement, the victim opened a formal case.

The matter was initially reported to Bedfordview Police Station and has since been transferred to the Yeoville Police Station for further investigation.
